  • casa de cambio : currency exchange office
  • casa particular : house that can host tourists
  • casita : little house
  • centro : downtown
  • cerro : hill
  • Cohiba : expensive cuban cigar brand
  • Cristal : cuban beer
  • cuba libre : cocktail of rhum, lime juice and cola
  • cueva : cave
  • frijoles negros : black beans
  • ingenios : refinery or production plant
  • masa : the white part of the inside of a coco nut
  • malecon : seafront sidewalk
  • mojito : cocktail of rhum, sugar, lime juice, mint, carbonated water
  • musica en vivo : live music
  • palapa : big static umbrella made of palm tree leaves
  • piņa colada : cocktail of rhum, coconut milk and pineapple juice
  • pelota : baseball
  • periodo especial : economic crisis in Cuba following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991
  • Revolucion : the cuban revolution led by Fidel Castro from 1953 to 1959
